Teledyne D.G.O’Brien is one of the world's premiere producers of Pressure Hull Penetrators (PHP, or often referred to as Hull Glands or Hull Fittings) for manned submarines around the world.
A PHP is used to bring a circuit (electric or optic) from outside a submarine pressure hull to the inside, while assuring under all operating and failure modes, there is no leak path to the inside of the submarine (fail-safe).
Teledyne D.G.O’Brien often incorporates glass-to-metal sealing into the PHP for the maximum protection of the sailors inside.
Teledyne D.G.O’Brien has produced thousands of penetrators in a wide variety of configurations; PHPs can have connectors on the outboard side or cables molded directly to the penetrator body.
Teledyne D.G.O’Brien has provided PHPs for Navies around the globe: e.g. USA, UK, Australia, France, Israel, Egypt
Teledyne D.G.O’Brien has provided PHPs for deep diving scientific submersibles operated in the USA and Japan (up to 6500 meter depth rating) since the 1960s.
Teledyne D.G.O’Brien has provided PHPs for
- three-phase power
- 1-361 conductors
- electric and optical systems
- sonar, communication and towed array systems
- The applications are endless
For maximum product assurance and protection of the submariner, Teledyne D.G.O’Brien maintains strict process control so critical material used in PHPs is fully certified and fully traceable to the original heat number.
